I retain sole right and license to all content posted on my blog, including comments and, more specifically, I will not have a duty to modify or withdraw posts or comments, but I may do so if I choose.

I believe in freedom of speech. I believe in fostering an environment where visitors to my blog are comfortable with commenting. Toward that end, all kinds of comments -- snarky or kind, mean-spirited or gracious, nasty or humorous, political, religious, sexual, those comprising disagreement, or agreement, filled with compliments, playfulness, lewdness, crudeness, mockery, dirty words, and sickly-sweet-syrupy pleasantness (gak!) -- are permitted on LizardDreams. People who want to make use of my blog, however, to launch unprovoked attacks need to be aware of the following:

  1. If I don't like it, I get to hose it. Remove it. Banish it. Delete, destroy, shred, obliterate, mulch, liquify, bend, spindle and mutilate it. Toss it, even. That is my first inclination and this is what I will do for first "offenses."

  2. I also reserve the right to edit it. Change it. Alter it. Turn it into something other than what the commenter intended. I won't be doing this to most comments. There is a specfic sub-class of comments to which this applies. Those who repeatedly offend me are targets. I go into detail about what offends me, below. If you're worried about this, then maybe you should think twice about leaving a comment I probably will not like.

  3. I dislike comments that are hurtful to people I don't think deserve to be hurt. Real, emotional hurt. Not people who are kind of asking for mockery or snideness, but people who are just offering sweet little observations and you decide to be mean just for the sake of being mean. This is the "unprovoked" kind. Those comments will be hosed (probably) or altered (for egregious offenders) to suit me.

  4. I dislike comments that disparage people who are dear to me -- family members, or those I consider to be family. The innocent -- non-participants. Those, too, will be hosed or altered.

  5. I dislike spam. That is, like, SO hosed.

  6. If you violate someone's privacy, or post personal information not generally known to all, I will probably edit out the private/personal information.

  7. If you post the same comment twice, I'll probably remove the second comment

  8. I may fix typos and spelling errors, unless we all can derive entertainment from your typos or spelling errors

  9. If I do edit a comment that I found offensive, I'll be sure to mark it as edited, and why it was edited. The goal of my editorial whims is to deter the stalkers and trolls who make a habit of trying to destroy a community and if I decide it will irritate the fuck out of such a person, then that's the way I'll play it. It has nothing to do with how I feel about the stalker/troll personally, and everything to do with their behavior. If they behave, they're safe.
