I've ripped off a lot of cool terms from Usenutters, but one of the coolest is Ultraviolet's abundant use of the word "peeps" instead of "people." Okay, the term did not originate with her, but she made it a misc.writing term, and it is through her use that I have made it a regular part of my lexicon.
Even at work, with my co-workers.
They hate being referred to as "resources." The peeps at the office, that is. It started a number of years back, when "Personnel" became "Human Resources" and employees ceased being "employees" but instead became "resources." Cogs in the machine. Canned goods, with shelf life. Plug-n-play components.
And the word is that these, erm, "stakeholders" hate being called "resources."
I can't blame 'em. It's such an impersonal term. It's so cold. So corporate.
So I've taken to calling 'em peeps. My peeps. The peeps who report to me on the food chain.
And, starting today, I'll be offering a 'blog series on peeps. The peeps I'll be talking about aren't any one single person, but, rather, a Scott Adams-esque blending of the best and worst traits of the peeps I encounter in my work and play life.
Enjoy!

Cool.
I do that once in awhile, but I'm not consistent. And most of the peeps here are too quiet to be very inspiring. But per coincidence I did blog about peeps@work just the other day.
