I'm not easily grossed out by stuff, and I am certainly not a compulsive clean freak. You won't see me carrying packets of wipes or little bottles of hand sanitizer.
The video below, however, got my attention.

I definitely carry bottles of hand sanitizer. I've seen too many people walk out of crapper stalls and not wash their hands and I'm too polite to not shake hands with people.
So you swap germs then. He gives you his ass germs, and you give him all the stuff you picked up from the door handle, the pen, the table top, and the spoon in the diner that the waitress licked before she put it on your table.
I'm not shaking hands with the guy walking out of the crapper.
The point is who knows what the guy I am shaking hands with just did?
And the real reason is to prevent the transmission of colds. By washing my hands regularly and using hand sanitizer I have remained virtually cold-free for years.
